“To prosperity, new beginnings, and managed growth,” Menlo Park Mayor Rich Cline toasted to a small crowd gathered around shiny shovels at 1400 El Camino Real, the site where ground was broken Wednesday for a 61-room, four-story boutique hotel. (The Almanac – October 27, 2016)
Menlo Park is closer to getting a new boutique hotel on El Camino Real.
The Menlo Park Planning Commission unanimously approved Monday night a 61-room hotel proposed by the Portola Valley-based Pollock Financial Group to be built at 1400 El Camino Real at Glenwood Avenue in Menlo Park, the former site of a Shell gas station. (The Almanac – April 19, 2016)
“The Portola Valley-based Pollock Financial Group wants to turn the former Shell gas station site at Glenwood Avenue, which now has a scattering of shrubs and a whole bunch of dirt, into a boutique hotel on the outskirts of downtown Menlo Park. The plan is to include a restaurant, bar and pool. The underground garage would accommodate an estimated 75 cars using “stack technology” – as a valet parks one car, a hydraulic lift carries it up to allow a second car to be parked underneath. “A plan for a ( 63 room) boutique hotel within walking distance of downtown and the Caltrain station is firmly planed on the city’s drawing board” (Kevin Kelly – The Daily News – August 7, 2015)
