Vacant storefronts – especially on Santa Cruz Avenue – are a blight on Downtown and represent a loss of city sales revenues. These also discourage the opening of new businesses. While some can be attributed to normal business turnovers, too many locations have lacked tenants for more than three years AND are not actively marketed by property owners. These are the problematic ones that our City needs to proactively address.
