May 2025

  • The city planning department is reviewing the submittals by the eight developers who responded to the City’s RFQ for the Downtown Affordable Housing Project (Downtown AH Project”). It tentatively plans to present its recommendations to the Council this month but a meeting has not yet been scheduled.

April 2025

  • On April 14, Save Downtown Menlo filed a suit against the City Council and City of Menlo Park. It challenges the defendants legal rights to declare three parking lots as surplus and available for affordable housing development. The court hearing is scheduled for June 18th.

  • The City received seven submittals from the eight developers who responded to the RFQ for the Downtown AH Project. (Note: the submitted design concepts are extremely vague so the City very little about this subject.)

  • City publishes a one-question survey that asks recipients to comment on the developer submittals. (It is not clear why it sought community feedback as the submittals generally did not provide insights as to how the developers would design the Downtown AH Project.

  • The new Clark’s Oyster Bar opened in the former locations of Ann’s Coffee Shop and the Menlo Bazaar.
